Toba Caldera Resort – BPO Danau Toba
Toba Caldera Resort is an eco-tourism destination developed by BPODT – Badan Pelaksana Otorita Danau Toba - (Lake Toba Authority Implementing Agency)
Lake Toba is the largest volcanic lake in the world and the second largest lake in the world after Victoria Lake in Africa. It is one out of ten deepest lakes in the world, reaching around 500 metres depth. Samosir Island in the middle of Lake Toba has area of 64.000 hectares or equals to country of Singapore.
Toba Caldera Resort is an eco-tourism destination developed by BPODT – Badan Pelaksana Otorita Danau Toba - (Lake Toba Authority Implementing Agency). This 386.72 ha resort is prepared to stand tall among world class eco-resort network, as it is classified as a super-priority tourism destination and fully supported by Republic of Indonesia Government.
Toba Caldera Geopark has been ratified as a member of the UNESCO Global Geoparks in the 209th Session of the UNESCO Executive Board, Tuesday (7/7/2020) in Paris, France. Toba Caldera Resort developmen aims to improve the socio-economic condition of the surrounding communities through community empowerment, training, and involvement in the tourism industry.
